Riblee's @ Sri Hartamas ... ah malaysian food rocks
My usual makan gang has a theory. Never mess with a hungry person. Especially when a person has low blood pressure. It makes you have headaches and cranky unless food gets in your digestion system. That's what we all discovered on our trip to Riblees. It was a session done on friday which is normally not our usual day for makan sessions as we know it is jammed pack. The usual working crew was split all over town, some in Subang and the rest in the heart of KL. And Riblee's was smack in the middle. The journey from Subang to Hartamas was littered with ....... traffic . And 2 cranky people in the car. I don't think my brother finds me a good companion especially when my low BP acts up :D and not in a car especially. It was our first time visiting Mashi's brand new haus ( nice haus btw ) and the security guard really didn't see the better light of me that day with his rather inane questions. By the time LW arrived, we all edgy and stomachs growling, we all jumped into Beck 's car and headed of to Hartamas. Oh, that was day Brazil played Portugal in the World Cup.. Exciting (*yawn*) match... and having your dinner interlaced with the sounds of vuvuzela was rather ... disturbing.

However, Riblee's managed to lift our ( or should i say my ) spirits. A quiet and rather unassuming place above Al Rahji, this place is owned by a friend of a friend's. However, it was undeniable what is the favorite meat that was served here. No prizes for guessing with all the not so subtle clues all around the place.

Leonardo's @ Jalan Bangkung
I am back to my May posts again. I am amazed salute people who can do 2-3 posts a week. Possibly these people don't sleep! I need my sleep otherwise i can't function the next day. And i am immune to coffee already :(
Well, skip the sleeping, this is a way overdue post on my Cousin 4's b'day. Actually, it's a surprise party of sorts and a cousin gathering. Now, those of you who do follow my blog, my eating events are either because of family events or with my makan gang ( which till now i have not found a name for them - it is either the greedy piggies or the gluttons, or big eyes, small tummy :D ) and OD gang. More often than naught, food is a time for me to enjoy my company more than anything else and i tend to forget any problems during these outings- all work talk is banned!. In this case, cousin's b'day was planned by her sis Cousin 2, who is some what, the makan goddess in our family ( who does not blog, but makans alot )... I have heard of Leonardo's from a few fehmes bloggers, and gamely went a long with cousin 2's suggestion to have a surprise party for her sis. And this place is SERIOUSLY not halal.
Cousin 4 and i are quite close, separated in age by a few years. Heck, we even worked in the same company for 10 years! And hardly anyone believed we are related because we are as different as night and day. While she was the more refined and elegant one, i was completely either brash and loud (more on the loud bit). However, that doesn't stop us from msning each other daily or sms each other often on office gossip. Dinner events in the family normally see us yakking away loudly and laughing raucously as if we have not seen each other for a few years. Over the years, we started planning what we call "Cousin Events" for the remaining cousins who are still in KL. Most of our cousins are either overseas, or estranged ( for some ) , or too young to join but the intent was to keep us together as a group. Often naught, Cousin 1, who flies back from overseas often is also a frequent guest to our cousin events. Also,.... cousin events have veered in the direction of being up class as well hehehehe.... since now everyone is working, we had more money than we had as kids!
Leonardo's is situated in a quiet area of Bangsar, which i totally love. Why? Nice hilly place, with greens, and people walking their goldies... I could so live here if i have the budget to do so. And parking is good here. I am still sore on those Kayu Ara -like place when it comes to parking!
The journey here was quite interesting for me, because i exasperated Lil Bro with my rather weird name road. When asked, ( since he drove ) what is the road name i replied "Jalan Bakung"... Using
Leonardo's has 2 floors, the dining area and the wine loft in the upper floor. Obviously, we are here for the dining. It's not super big, this place but cozy. And i like cozy. Already, 2-3 tables were there and eating at 6:30pm!
And this place is posh, i tell ya. Look at the cups and the cutlery, i was beginning to wonder if this place is in the same league as Sage or Cilantro's - hopefully not, i hope not to have a degustation menu that night.
Then Cousin 2 smses to say she will be late as the Q to KFC was long... I was eh? Oh. forgot, 2 nephews were

Haikara Style Cafe and Bakery @ E-Tiara, Subang
I am currently typing my blog with 9 fingers now, thanks to a garden accident involving dog baths... T_T..... Oh.. the pain! :( I now fully understand when people say they are going to pass out from the pain) So... apologies if there are any spelling errors here.
If you don't know by now, ... Subang has a very high population of Japanese restaurants. I mean it is like a little Tokyo here for restaurants. And i am... sincerely thankful. Since this Kitteh eats a lot of Japanese food and is a total aficionado for anything ( or most things ) Japanese. If you give me a choice of restaurants, normally i will veer towards Japanese. In fact if we our chosen restaurant fails us ( i.e, not open, too crowded ) we normally make a beeline for Japanese food. Mashi calls it "safe food" as we like it all the time!
Now, back to the Japanese restaurants ( excluding things like Sakae and Sushi Zanmai ) we have places in SS15 hosting Tomoe, Rakuzen, Sumi-ka, Hyotan, Ryu-Men-Tei, that-kobe-beef-place, Shun in SS12, Ajidokoro (katsu place ), there are also some japanese style cafes and bakeries sprouting up. The one closes to my place is Haikara Style Cafe and Bakery. Run by a husband and wife team, this shop serves mainly Western food done with a Japanese touch. The shop is done up with simple western style furniture with cute touches of japanese paraphernalia all around the shop.
Despite it's small interior, the shop was pretty full during 1pm lunch hour, with more Japanese patrons than local. I guess the japanese people know where to get good food around town as well. I'd always thought japanese styled western food was strange initially, but after tasting a few places, i find i prefer the japanese styled western food. Less cheesy than your normal western food and more towards my taste. I don't hesitate to eat this now. (Besides the usual sushi and all )
Service is a bit slower here because it is only a 3 man show here, with a cook behind. There are set lunches available or you can select from an ala-carte menu. This wee little shop does have a lot to offer even on their ala-carte.
Mashi when for the set lunch of beef steak(Haikara Steak) with rice. The set comes with soup and salad. Don't be fooled by the color of paleness here and that it looks raw but actually it is not. I think it is lightly fried.
I decided for the Beef stew with pasta. You can choose to order this with rice instead but i was sick of rice for the past few days and decided to go for pasta instead. I love the pairing of this sauce with pasta but i think it will taste even more fantastic with rice. This is more of a western style beef style and i think wine is used in this, to give this that lovely flavor. I didn't order the set, but this dish comes with the lovely bun that is currently very bokehed behind :D. I think this is the bestest butter roll i have ever eaten! It is served not cold but lightly warmed up and you can tear it up to little pieces to wipe the sauce of the stew up. The beef was quite tender as well, nice cuts were used for the stew. And i love the veggie and stew... *Umai!!*
You can't pass up a visit to Haikara without trying their cakes and bread, so despite feeling like ... a whale, we had to try their cakes. Mashi went for the caramel eclair while i was amused by the charcoal cake. :D. I don't think it is goma ( black sesame, but i have not figured out what they have put inside the black cake! ). I heard the green tea cake has mochi in the middle.
Mashi had coffee that day and every thing in this shop is so cute! Check out the itty bitty milk holder. When the proprietor brought this out... first thing i said was KAWAII!!!! Compared to the size of my lens cap, it was small and enough milk for that cup of coffee! Oh, the other white pot is for the sugar.
I think we are pretty much sold on the food here. There is also lots of variety you can choose from ( check out their website for the menu) and i love how you can order the curry here by "strength of spicey-ness". Ichi for mild ( 1) while Go ( 5 ) for super hot! Ichi-kudasai! If you are ever, near Subang and hope for a hearty meal here, please try out this place. You will not be disappointed.
It closes on Monday and make sure you reserve a place if you have a big crowd. Also, the folks here speak mostly Japanese, it's so quaint to watch! I know, i know, i miss Japan :D especially at this time of the year. ... Btw, i was so full that day, i skipped dinner. Buta-neko! Me wants their Mentaiko pasta next.
Other floggers that at here: Masak Masak, Futari no Saru ( the 2 monkeys :D), Eiling and Shellfood station etc..

Fullhouse @ Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, darn, it's another farewell
Yes, 2010 is a year of farewells. Most of the posts seem to fall under "farewells" - however, if there are no farewells there are no changes and no new challenges and people don't grow. Or so i think :) My ex colleague has quit her job to do bible studies for 6 months in Singapore. Which i find amazing, in this day and age, young people take religion seriously. I am sure she will do well in her endeavors and hope to see her 6 months down the line.
I salute the organiser who had to look for a location that was cheap, good parking ( since Kayu Ara, the complains were endless ) and food was good, finding a location for 18 different tastes buds and different needs is a challenge. However, i find to be really honest, this is quite a tall order in K.L. Where you can have A, you might not have B, let alone A,B,C together at the same time. Well. I am not really sure how Fullhouse fits here in this case. (Btw: i wanted to get this post out of the way because i wanted to start a serious of home cooking features next round - besides just eating out )
Fullhouse has been around for some time already in Malaysia, starting first at Ara Damansara and subsequently opening branches in KL and Sunway ( have not seen this there before one? ) KL seems to have a boom of this "theme-based" restaurants like, The garden, The apartment, there is even a toilet bowl one in Sg Wang which i simply refuse to go to. Call me traditional but still i can't stomach food that is placed to toilet bowl like .. bowl!
Back to Fullhouse - It is supposedly based on the Korean drama of the same name. Out of curiosity, i googled for Fullhouse pics and stumbled upon the Korean tourism site for Fullhouse. Does look like it :) Heck, in Korea, you can visit here the filming site as well.
Put Rain in here, i will come back to visit this place :)
Well Fullhouse does both Asian and Western food. Since i was sincerely sick of Asian food after the CNY gorging ( in my case biscuits ) i decided to go Western. I didn't really take all the food photos of what the 17 other people ate, just mine and what was floating in front of me.
The most popular order that night was the Wok Seared Chicken drumstick. Actually it tastes like Grilled Chicken with brown sauce topped with raisins. Comes with a serving of veggie ( carrots and a old er bok choy ) and a kick ass mashed potato ( i like this ). The meat is tender but my grip is... it's a wee bit small in terms of serving portions. Could have upped it on the size or have side dish of pasta to go with this.
Still a bit hungry, i called for 2 plates of Chicken wing and fried flower roll ( which is a FRIED MANTOU - hence no pics of this ) Not bad the chicken wing. Ok, i was hungry, so i ate 2 wings. They were piping hot. And you can't really go wrong with this. I have never had Chicken wings failed!
Some one ordered Soft Shell Crab, which floated past me in this state .... -_- Looks tortured, the crab.
One of my friends thought her fish tasted medicinal, ( the sauce caused it that way ) so she ordered the lamb chop. I noticed the accompaniments started to look pretty similar after a few dish, mash potato, carrot and bok choy. Could use with some creativity here in salads.
We didn't try any Asian food, some people tried the dessert. I didn't hear any comments from those but I swear my ex colleague will never order the Lavender drink again! The drinks were a hit and miss, my Mango and Grape bubble tea like thingy was pretty awesome for RM6 bucks. My brother opted for something healthier and flowerly... Jasmine tea. Which the pot fascinated for a while.
Dinner ended pretty early this time around to my surprise. Probably due to the heat as well, because we were sort of sweating bullets during the whole dinner. Or was it just me that was sweating. Probably not me alone, alot of people had second round cold drinks. Plus the lights sorta heated up the place as well.
Would i come here again? Probably not, it's a bit kitschy for me as much as the place is pretty, i will take good food anytime, jam wise or not. (And satisfied my curiosity of this place) And themed restaurants have never been my thing ( like the Dae Jeung Kam restaurant -... didn't appeal to me as well) This place is good for young kids to "pak-tor" as there were alot of couples in this place that day. Also this is by far our cheapest outing - so it's a plus point here.

Cristang ... how could you run out of beer sausages....??
U know, Mashi and i like to tease each other with food - sometimes when i see hotate in isetan or found a place to eat oh-chien - i will sms her with the details to set her palate a waggin'. For me, it's normally pork that does the trick and especially when someone mentions beer in sausages, that got my curiosity peaked. So where is this sinful place that has beer / sausages together - Cristang to be exact .... and ... i didn't know that there is a new place called Avenue 8 popping up here - behind the KFC in PJ. It looks like mini version of Jaya 1 but not as populated as Jaya 1 yet with a few restaurants as well as office buildings around.
It was a day before 1st of May and despite being a public holiday the next day, the place was a bit quite that night. After settling down, we decided to place orders for the one reason we came here. Beer Sausages. Gleefully placed i should say. ( If we were wolves or somethin' our tails be a waggin' ) ... However, we were sorely upset or rather let down when the waiter came back to tell is "NO BEER Sausage".... how can like that?? Very let down ( just like a man u fan when Liverpool walloped them ) we still decided to stay on to try out the food here. ( Hello, don't whack me if you are a man u fan ok ).
Anyway, Cristang is actually a Portuguese restaurant. They even have a facebook group for people to be fans if you enjoy their food. Calling themselves a fusion of asian and western, the menu is actually pretty interesting with a mix of local favorites such as Ayam Pong teh ( so distinctively melaka ) to western like Carbonara or Grilled Ribs.
Here is something i discovered while eating portuguese food. To be really honest, it's my first time trying Portuegese food and i found out that after eating in this place and about Cristang
1) Damn, it's spicy it could rocket me to deep space nine! Maybe my recent recovery from my flu sent my taste buds a tingling but really without rice, i would have blown my lips to pieces. Don't get me wrong, it was tasty but i prefer less spicyness to truly enjoy the food.
2) Hmm, every local culture in malaysia has "chap-choy" hehehe.
3) This is by far the best pork burger around town - P3 rocks.
4) Waiters don't really speak good english here so please ensure you point to the numbers correctly and hope it comes out correct
5) Cristang is not any other name from the sky but it is actually Kristang - a word to describe people of mix Portuegese and Malaccan descent. Here - wiki it. Hence, probably the spiceness in the food. Did you also know their influence in the malay language - like meja, keju and sekolah were actually portugese words? - I wikied it :) That enough - i think i am ready to hit Portugal this year end.
Back to the food, anyway for the 5 of us, we ordered kari pimenta, baked bacon ambrilla, some ribs of which i cannot remember the name, Chap choy and ... Pork burger p3. Pictures! To follow next.
I think this the bacon rib ambila - for some reason i thought this was a western dish but actually no, this is a curry to be exact. The meat, tender and tasty. And yes spicy. Needs to be eaten with rice, otherwise it might be a bit too much but goes very well with rice. Sauce pot me needs rice to enjoy food like that.
Since we are so meaty, i insisted on a vegetable, so we had mixed veg. Actually, it looks like lor hon chai and tastes pretty clear. Veggie, being veg this was so so, felt my mom's version is more towards my liking. However, i will still eat - since i have a preference for vegetables. (except bitter gourd)
For 5 persons i think the serving size is so so. The western food seems smaller, but the asian cuisines is much larger in size. While we were eating the owner popped by to check if we were ok, and Becks, informed them we were really here all the way ( actually no only plaza sentral and KLCC ) for beer sausages. Seems 4 days ago, he ran out of stock and his supplier has not been able to provide the stock to him. Since then, daily people came in to ask for beer sausages - lol, Murphy's law came to bite him. Anyway, if you are planning to go there soon, the owner requests you buzz him to check if beer sausages in stock. Otherwise, it is good to sample their other food choices as well. Oh, and since i don't drink, beer lovers, the beer is good here. But yes, i know it is odd, i like beer sausages. Actually i like alcohol infused food but not alcohol on it's own.
I will also next time, remember to keep a theme, the mix of asian and western at one go after some second thought seems to skew tastes a bit. However, i warrant a come back here. The Western food is up on my want-to-eat-again-more-than-once-list. Go try and oh, if you get beer sausages - pm me. I must go again.

Rick's Cafe @ One Bangsar
This is a very old post which i have not had time to do, and i was lazy to load up my big PC to search for photos ( it is the heat ) so i thought i will write a review for Rick's Cafe @ One bangsar. I stumbled upon this place via The malaysian insider ads ( ahem ) and i was looking for a place that offer buffet for a big group of 23. My ex vendors were leaving our company ( was quite sadden after 3 years being together, we have become friend some as really close friends and others, friendships that i would like to maintain ) so my colleagues and i thought we could treat them lunch for all the support they have given to us. After some huuing and haaing... ( budget was an issue for such a fantastically big crowd ) Rick's cafe seem like a perfect place. After all, they offered a RM38 all you can eat lunch. Now, i am not sure why silly me thought that it was a buffet. By the way, if the name sound's familiar, yup it's from the movie Casabalanca and it is styled similarly so.
I made an appointment for thursday the week after. However, i started getting hints( spidey senses a tingling ) that this place is not as cut out as it is to be. For one...... the waiter called on wednesday ( the day before )to ask why we were not attending... Dude .... i told you on the phone wednesday - even quoted the date to him when i made the reservation. On the day itself, i was suprised that we were the ONLY table in the restaurant. Undeterred... i thought it was a good idea since this group was extremely boisterious. And hungry as i was soon to find out.
Rick's RM38 lunch all you can eat offer is you call anything on the menu. It can be salads, desserts, mains but it does not include drinks ( becareful here - the drinks killed us that day($$) ). Also any left over, they charge you RM10 per 100gm to discourage wastage. So, being split to table of 4 per person we decided to each other something. Let it be known that my staff of 4 men -really ate up a storm that day. And they calculated that if they ordered ala-carte, the 4 of them ate up RM282. That explains the lack of motivation post lunch work.
Ok, pictures ... please... My table was a bit sad that day, with only 1 guy, he could not eat up a storm. One other was felled by illness, well.. i am not really the bottomless pit anyway, so here is what we had.

This is a Chicken skewers - when we ordered it, we thought it was a heck of a lot bigger but when it came... the first japanese word that came into my mind was... "eh ... chikkoi"... [very very small]. Taste wise, quite good.

Next was a fish dish. I can't really remember what it was called - cajun was some of the spices stated in the menu but it didnt taste Cajun at all. Tasted more like curry marinated fish and we did not like this dish. Firstly, twas fishy and secondly, it is too wet for my liking. I thought Cajun food was mostly grilled and less watery.
Something we all liked... pizza. You cannot possibily go wrong with the hawaiian style pizza. Crunchy base which we liked this one alot. Needless to say this one was a thumbs up in our books.

We didn't order this, but the table next door decided to go for healthy and ordered a salad. And i, decided to take picture of course! You can see bits of beef bacon here to add some oomph to the salad - i dont believe i heard any complaints from my colleague for this.
We stole some of the neigbhour's pepperoni pizza. Some how our table likes pizza - the others were ordering big mains on their end. No pics as they were quite far down the other end of the table. I prefer the first pizza though, i just thought spicy sausages were really not my thing.
One of my staff ( the mean eating machines ) ordered burger with fries? We had the chicken version which we think tasted like plastic. The beef version was pronounced ok from my staff's feedback but they have eaten better ones. Hey. They each had a burger while my table each SHARED a burger. See the trend in this restaurant? Some good dishes and then there are some not so good dishes. Eating in places like this sometimes can you a high and low at the same time.

I think the next dish was a high in my books, Funghi Risotto. Now, i discovered this seems to be an acquired taste. I ordered it and passed it around the table for the rest to try. Now, dispite rice being a local favorite, this didn't go well for some. One staff told me... "milk and rice tastes weird" ( screws up face for maximum gross out effect ) while one, thought it was awesome. Me? I thought it was my best dish of the day. Love the smell of the mushrooms which is highly infused in the rice. It is pretty true that risotto is an acquired dish, even in my family. While my brother and myself love this dish, my parents are from the school that this is WEIRD. Sigh.
Ah, another not so fabulous dish - the pesto. I found it drenched in oil :(. I had better pesto before than this and found this difficult to eat. By this time, i was actually full to the brim already. ... However i want to make sure i get my RM38 dollar worth, i ordered ginger ice cream. ...

I have to say, i give Rick's Cafe a 2 thumbs up in terms of dessert. All the desserts we ordered and believe me it was a lot was excellent. I am thinking the dessert cook and the main cooks must be different teams. Because my colleagues were raving about the desserts even after the session. On of the hot hot favorites is this one, the chocolate cake with melted chocolate inside. Believe it or not, the boys were fighting over this dessert. Everyone of them had one - i tasted my neighbour's one and yes, it was really good. Not too sweet, bitter enough for me and with hot ooozing chocolate in the center. I think we eat all the remaining chocolate cake for the day.

And my rather suprisingly tasty ginger ice cream - YUMZ!! By the way, they have the strangest range of ice cream. Needless to say, the boys in the team tried every possible flavor.
I have to point out there were some dishes that did not make the picture here because i really did not think the taste lived up to my expectation - one was the duck in garlic confit. This dish put me off the most because it was so gamey and really we could not finish this dish. As much as i like duck but gameyness of it was just a really put off. Secondly the chicken burger plastic meat taste was something i cannot explain. Remember i told you that if you did not finish the food they charge you per extra, since the duck was so gamey we left it. When it comes to paying the waiter came with a mini weighing machine. I told the head waiter we could not finish it because the duck was just plain awful and in the end they did not charge us. I have mix feelings about this place, dessert- awesome mains - so so.
Now, the big group of us eat up to RM 1,210. The biggest cut in price was in the drinks which was not part of the RM38 so... if you ever head out here - ORDER WATER! And oh, to my ex vendors - ... it was nice working with you guys :) And thanks for all the help you have given to us.

Neko's Hunt for Mr Ho's!
Ah.. the illusive Mr Ho...... You know, previously i complained, i mean blogged about looking for Mr Ho, but ended up in Bonga... Nevertheless, i never gave up, and still hunted ( hunger ) for Mr Ho's siew yoke.... Plus it would be nice to give dad his favorite dinner treat on his birthday. After many phone calls to Mr Ho's meat shop at BSC, i finally found HIM! (Like finding mr right... if only it was so easy ) .. And let me say, i found a lot of bloggers looking for him too. After the original shop closed at MidValley, i never looked at mid valley the same again...

Now that i have ... found him, again, we can continue this relationship we have been having... LOL.. Ok i am dramatizing... but yes everyone Mr Ho's Fine Foods is at Plaza Damas. Opposite Nagomi Shabu Shabu in Plaza Damas. The shop, much smaller than the one in Middo, has a meat market and a restaurant that fits about 8-10 tables. I was actually quite pleased to finally find this place - because dad was quite happy to eat here.
However.... there are some slight changes to this place. Menu wise.
The famous pork knuckles that they had when in Middo. Not here any more. The seafood marinara my mom so liked - also not available here any more. The siew yoke fan - also not available. We quizzed the cook who was also the waiter, how come the menu was reduced. Apparently they just opened in Plaza Damas not long ago. Originally to be at Solaris, somehow or rather they opened here in Plaza Damas instead ( One suspects the price of rent has a lot to do with it ) and they were only opened a month or so ago. Even the menu looks like a temp menu not like a permanent menu. I didnt really feel like walking out and the poor guy looked so earnest, we stayed on.
Nevertheless we had 3 orders of Roast pork and Spaghetti Olio and Bro had his curry laksa. I do like this atmosphere in the shop... it's quiet and a place where you can sit back and chat ( even though it is with your parents :P ) and enjoy a relaxing dinner. We peaked at our poor waiter/chef busy frying and cooking in the back at the fishbowl kitchen. Dinner took a bit of time to reach us ( approx 15 minutes ) while we took photos ( or brother did ) and climbed up and down the big seats to look at other shops around this place.
Finally, my Roast Pork and Spaghetti Olio arrived!! I can smell it a mile away. Perfection by the way is on the left of the spaghetti. Sorry, picture below not framed correctly-leh. But there are like 10 pieces of nice juicy siew yoke. The pasta nicely done but a tad heavy on the pepper. Other than that, it was fine. Mom commented a nice salad would be even better. The siew yoke- if i remember was as good as the last time i had it... One word - Awesome. Especially the crunchy skin. I can't resist that.

The curry laska picture, didn't make the cut because i was too lazy to go to the otherside of the table. Yes it was a big table. However, bro assures me it was tasty. Maybe when his pictures are up - i just link them. That is what i call lazy. In case you want a closer look @ the pork... here you go.
Despite not having some of our favourites on the menu ( but they might have yours... ) i thought this place still has "it". I also spotted the table behind us having ordinary fried rice but with Bacon!! mMmMmM. And for some reason we got a free Illy coffee. Pretty awesome in my books - reminded me of the coffee i had i italy.
Anway, look no more for Mr Ho, we have found him, hopefully by the next visit, he has more on the menu. Dad wants to try the sandwhich next.

YogiTree - healthy food and tasty too
I have always been a fan of organic food having eaten pretty decent ones overseas and was quite pleased that Yogi Tree opened up in midvalley. For me, i love stuff healthy and tasty i must say. YogiTree has been there for a while but due to the fact that convincing my father to eat this is quite a task... i decided to torture my staff instead as well as a few close colleagues... I could imagine their suprise when i told them "We are eating organic food for A's farewell" and "all of you all don't have a choice".... the sounds of silence hit me. So much for respecting your supervisor. Anyway, they dutifully trouped a long and after some parking fights, we finally manage to get up to Yogitree.
I love the decor i must say. Since i am in the middle of looking for a place and also getting ideas for rooms.. i like the eclectic feel of the place. Nothing matches except for the color tone. Feels like a bedroom more than a restaurant.
Our must order of Salad, since i insisted on organic food, it would not be an organic food experience without a salad. And my choice was duck and pear salad. Who knows that such a combination was so tasty? The pear sweetness blended in with the duck's gamey taste . And the sauce - thankfully not sour. This was quite a favorite for all of us.. ( oh good, everyone likes veggie besides ff and me ).
Then came our mushroom fantasy. For some reason mushrooms were a favorite today and since it's boss who is treating - hey why not call for Portobello mushroom pasta. This dish is quite nice despite the fact i do not like creamy food stuff. One of the reasons is this really does not feel creamy and the texture of the pasta is not like the normal kind. My thumbs up on this dish. The mushrooms give the pasta a nice smell as well. There is also no "jelakky" feeling that other cream dishes had.
VK's order of mushroom and cheese 0pen sandwhich was next. Also a crowd favorite. Nice cheese and with mushrooms.
I must say Yogitree is a refreshing change of restaurants after all the oily, piggy places i have been too or other normal restaurants that i have eaten. Despite calling it organic healthy food, it was tasty and those who think healthy food is not tasty - think again! We did not feel the over stuffed feeling we usually get if there is oily or fatty food present - but still please practice moderation folks.
Anyone who wants to check out Yogitree, here you go: ( they sell yoga apparel as well here )
