Mandara Spa @ Sunway Lagoon Resort

Do you all remember the story Secret Garden? Where you find within the confines of your garden, a secret door to a secret place you never thought it existed? Well there is one in Sunway Lagoon Hotel and Resort. Every time you drive past and you see this sign in front of Sunway saying "The Villas" and Spa? Well i got a chance to find out more about it.

I booked myself to a spa to get away from it all. Thought, hey why not I do some se
lf indulgence of the more beneficial kind. So i looked for SPAS.... Yes i am a fan of this expensive indulgence. After searching for some SPAS, i found out Mandara has a branch in Sunway Resort. Mandara Spa seems like has many branches overseas and locally. The other famous branch is in Cherating Club Med. And i have tried it before, so i signed up for the the Mandara Spa Massage.

Man.. this place is hard to find in Sunway. Firstly, I was late. There was a Jam! :( Secondly i got lost within the hotel. Ok stress building up some more. Got to level 5 of the hotel and saw this sign called Mandara Spa. Wah... got whole view of the lagoon park. That's where my Secret Garden Adventure starts. I didnt know they had like a level where buildings actually exists there. Ok, here's the entrance to the Secret Garden... exclusive leh

The blocks of building you see on your left, is the exclusive Villas.

Inside the waiting area- you can buy their oils here.

Choose your oils for your massage. :) Each oil has different purpose.

When you get to mandara, firstly they serve you Ginger and Tea which is sweetened. Suppose to get rid of wind and it is served cold. It's a very refreshing tea but unfortunately they dont sell it. You can make it on your own. Next a cold towel with aromatic olds is given for you to refresh your face. Cold! but nice. I felt a bit bleah looking flustered after walking around looking for this place.

Next, they will show you to your room, where you change into a sarong and disposable undies and wait for your masseur to come. Depending on what program you choose, it takes about 50 minutes. I took the mandara massage which lasts about 50 minutes and takes up 2 persons to perform the massage on you. It's a combination of balinese, shiatsu, swedish and thai massage. During the massage, gentle music plays in the background and you feel like napping off after awhile. That is a sign of relaxation....... I was quite dissapointed when my 50 minutes was up. But my shoulders ache less and it was not painful. In fact, i felt exercised.. for some reason. Though i dont advocate this as an exercise. And yes, No Cold Hands. The massuers all keep their hands warm before they start.

If you want to know more about mandara spa- check out this link - Mandara Spa

You need to be there in advance of 15 minutes before your session, and they have couples session for those who are keen. Think i will do this every 6 months for some feel good indulgence.
